Mt. Biking: Alton Water Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: suuny Max Speed: Distance Covered: 15 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
So after the great bike and canoe yesterday I was up at 5 in the morning
taking pictures of sunrise ovver Alton water :) It was then back to the van
for an early breakfast and to take the bikes out again !!!
We left the van at 6:45 and headed along the lake to Rabbits wood before
turning toward Sutton and past yesterdays church and down past the big
school to the Stour and onto Holbrook creek but this time the tide was out
and all the boats were high and dry.We fed a mother duck and her nine young
bread and watched the egret and swans before setting off along the path
around Holbrook bay.At the end of the bay we seemed to lose the footpath
and ended up pushing our bike for nearly two miles along the foreshore
through mud which got deeper and deeper and our bikes and shoes getting
dirtier and dirtier !!!!! We were lucky the tide was out or we would'nt
have get through and we did have trouble getting around a creek at the end
just before we found the footpath again. It was a relief to be riding again
and we continued to Erwarton with veiws over Parkstone quay before heading
up to the church and the road back to Harkstead and then to the co-op in
Holbrook to buy a paper and lunch before heading back to our van after over
four hours, tired, dirty but having just had a top adventure !!! So we washed
our feet in the lake, had lunch at 11:30 then spent the afternoon
relaxing, reading and watching the dinghy racing !!! Then in the evening we
had a great bbq with the Hurrell before falling into bed exhausted at 9:30
!!!!
